Here We Go—Year 10!

This is our first newsletter as Richard begins his year as Potentate, and I can’t think of a better time to reflect on who we are and where we’re headed.

At our November meeting, I asked the ladies to Google a simple question: “Why was the Shrine created?” The answer was clear—fun and fellowship.

The hospitals are absolutely one of the most incredible things about this organization, but they are a beautiful byproduct of the true foundation on which the Shrine was built. This year, we want to go back to those roots, reconnect, and most importantly—have some fun.

But here’s the honest truth: you get out of this organization what you put into it. You have to show up. And we truly hope you’ll show up with us.

One day, Amazon advertised a flamingo to me, and it said the flamingo symbolizes independence, strength, and elegance. In that moment, I knew a flamingo had to be part of my pin. The crown she wears reminds us that we are all queens in our own way—and since my name means princess, well… there’s that too.

You’ll notice she’s standing on one leg, representing the balance we all strive for in our lives. And then there’s the ribbon. Breast cancer does not define who I am—but it did make me a survivor. That ribbon represents fight, strength, and resilience, and it’s a reminder that our stories are powerful.

Please be sure to stay connected with us and watch for details. We hope you’re ready for a year full of laughter, fellowship, and unforgettable memories.

Here we go—Year 10! We are so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to share it with you.

Yours in Friendship,

Sarah
